ICPC Begins Probe of Ezekwesili’s Tenure as Education Minister

In what has been seen as a political move by the Federal Government to gag former Minister of Education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC), has launched a probe into her tenure as minister over allegations that her ministry mismanaged and siphon funds during the regime of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Daily Post newspaper gathered that Tom Chiahemen, the Publisher of National Accord newspapers, whose media outfit placed advertisement in Nigerian newspapers on behalf of the ministry between August 2006 and 2007, was questioned few days ago by officials of the ICPC over allegations that the advertisements were conduit pipe used by Ezekwesili for siphoning government money. Ezekwesili has been critical of the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration and accused it of mismanaging billions of dollars in the country’s foreign reserve.
